Indonesia: A Japanese Christian who remained in Jakarta after Sakoku, circa 1656, by Andries Beeckman
The same Japanese Christian appears on the right hand side, in the foreground, of Andries Beeckman's painting 'The Castle of Batavia' (c. 1656). The Japanese, his Christianity apparently indicated by his hat, must have been a well-known figure in contemporaneous Batavia (Jakarta).
