Cambodia: Khmer children from a Phnom Penh rooftop community

Nearly all Cambodian Buddhist men will join the Sangha (monkhood) and become monks at least once in their lives. Women, too, may become ordained as nuns, though the percentage is lower and the decision is generally delayed until middle or old age when the task of raising children has been achieved.
