Japan: The Japanese Naval Ensign, originally introduced on October 7, 1889; re-adopted on June 30, 1954
The Rising Sun Flag as used by the Japanese Marine Self-Defence Forces; White with a red disc slightly to the hoist with 16 rays extending from the disc to the edges of the flag.
Although today associated with the Japanese Self-Defence Forces, the banner is perhaps better remembered as the Imperial Ensign of the Japanese Combined Fleet during World War II.
