Japan: The Obake monster bites off a woman's hair. Yoshifuji Utagawa (1828-1887), 1868

Yoshifuji was a pupil of Kuniyoshi Utagawa. He specialzed in subjects of warriors and toy paintings. He also worked as an illustrator for children's books.

The Obake monster is variously described as pitch black and velvet.
