Japan: Princess Kibi (died 729) on a balcony. She was the wife of Prince Nagaya no O (684-729). Betrayed by the Fujiwara clan, they were forced to commit suicide together  with their children. Yashima Gakutei (1786-1868), c. 1821

Yashima Gakutei was a Japanese artist and poet who was a pupil of both Totoya Hokkei and Hokusai. Gakutei is best known for his kyoka poetry and surimono woodblock works.
