China: 'Mencius - The Three Moves', anon., 20th century

Mencius was a philosopher in the 4th century BCE. He was the most famous Confucian after Confucius. There are a lot of stories about Mencius's mother that represent the importance of respecting one's parents in Confucianism. One of the main stories is called The Three Moves.

The story is about his mother moving three times to find the right place for her children's upbringing. They finally settled at a house near a school so Mencius could get a good education. Mencius didn't want to move around so much, but he obeyed his mother's choices until she found the right house showing the importance of filial piety.
