Thailand: Giant water bugs or <i>malaeng da</i> (Lethocerus indicus) are eaten throughout Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia

Giant water bugs are eaten deep fried as well as lightly boiled. The essence of the bug can also be used in a variety of chilli based pastes and used as a condiment. Apart from Thailand, the bug is eaten in Vietnam and The Philippines.
