The Bagh Caves are a group of nine rock-cut monuments, situated among the southern slopes of the Vindhya Range in Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh. They are believed to have been established by a Buddhist monk named Dataka sometime in the 4th to 6th century CE.<br/><br/> The caves are famed for the equisite paintings found in some of the caves. The paintings on the walls and ceilings of the viharas of Bagh were executed in tempera.
