Lee In-sung (1912 - 1950) was a Korean painter based in Daegu. He studied art in Japan, but was heavily influenced by Western Art. He has been dubbed the 'Gauguin of Korea'. Lee was accidentally shot dead by a policeman after returning home drunk one night during curfew.
Gyeongju is a coastal city in the far southeastern corner of North Gyeongsang Province in South Korea.<br/><br/> Gyeongju was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Silla (57 BCE – 935 CE) which ruled about two-thirds of the Korean Peninsula between the 7th and 9th centuries. A great number of archaeological sites and cultural properties from this period remain in the city.
